One-of-nine, his recollections of sibling rivalry have become a treasure trove of poetic inspiration. While rejected by the most prestigious poetry publishers in the United States: Rattle, American Poetry Review, and Stone Canoe – Steven has eeked his way into various anthologies including: Art Through the Eyes of the Mad Poets..., Common Threads, Fixed & Free Quarterly, Got Verse?, and Word Fountain.

He has published four poetry books: Steer into the Skid (2022), No Mortar Required (2013), Standing in the Chaos (2006), and Too Blind To See (1996).

Steven serves poetry through membership and volunteerism as 1st Vice-President for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies and Treasurer for the Pennsylvania Poetry Society, as well as publications editor to both organizations for their annual manuscript competitions. He is also a member of the League of Minnesota Poets, the Mad Poets Society, the Ohio Poetry Association, and the River Poets.
